Taiwan’s geographic location gives it potential to act as a regional hub to new entrants to the wider Asian market with easier access and distribution to East Asia and Southeast Asia. Taiwan is a key hub in the global technology supply chain, it is highly innovative and ranked number one in patent filings. Taiwan also has good infrastructure, a highly educated workforce and is very open to international trade.

  • Taiwan and Canada have discussions underway to promote supply chain resilience, commercial opportunities, and increase collaboration underway on science, technology, and innovation, education, and the green economy.
  • Taiwan plans to participate in more trade agreements in the future, which will open more markets and opportunities for them in trade.
  • Through Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, Canada will support the economic empowerment of Indigenous Peoples through the implementation of the Indigenous Peoples Economic and Trade Cooperation Arrangement (IPETCA) in cooperation with existing partners – Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan – and Indigenous Peoples from those participating economies.
