Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global Internet of Things (IoT) solutions provider, celebrates the successful expansion of its Vancouver Research and Development (R&D) Centre.
Founded in 2020, the Vancouver R&D Centre quickly became a pivotal hub for Quectel and grew to a team of over 30 professionals by 2024. This growth prompted Quectel to relocate to a new 10,000 square foot facility and set up an advanced IoT hardware laboratory capable of conducting in-depth research on IoT projects. As Quectel’s strategic head office for North America, the centre reinforces the company’s commitment to innovation and growth in the region, and new job opportunities in Vancouver.
Led by a team of industry experts and staffed with software and hardware development engineers and certification services engineers, the Vancouver R&D Centre is exploring cutting-edge IoT technologies. Equipped with state-of-the-art testing labs and anechoic antenna chambers, the center provides an ideal environment for debugging and customer device testing. Additionally, the spacious and modern office suite can accommodate over 40 Quectel employees, fostering collaboration and innovation.
“Vancouver offers Quectel an ideal setting to thrive,” said Norbert Muhrer, President and CSO, Quectel Wireless Solutions. “Benefiting from a diverse talent pool and robust radio frequency (RF) and connectivity expertise to the North American market, Vancouver is the perfect location for our R&D center. We’re witnessing continued positive feedback from all our North American customers.”
One of the key advantages of locating in B.C. is the region’s rich talent pool and robust ecosystem for technological innovation. By collaborating with prestigious institutions like the University of British Columbia (UBC) and British Colombia Institute of Technology (BCIT), Quectel attracts top talent and remains at the forefront of technical research.
Additionally, B.C.’s proximity to the west coast of North America, including the Silicon Valley, encompasses many of Quectel’s customers and facilitates collaboration with tech giants and startups alike. Quectel found it ideal to place their North American R&D Center in the same time zone from which they can serve all of the Americas.
Quectel’s strategic decision to establish its Vancouver R&D Center reflects its dedication to providing swift and localized support to North American customers.
